ABOUT THE NORECO CLUB, San Martin Marg
Located in Chanakyapuri area the NORECO (Railway Eco park) is a golf course which is hidden from view for almost all the golfers literally & otherwise. The course is situated on the San Martin Marg and alongside the busy M G Road & is surrounded by a thick forest like grove of trees making it practically invisible to the casual observer. Its a 9 hole, 1367 yard, Par 28 course than is open to both Indians & foreigners.
Owned by the Indian Railways it is called the NORECO club (Northen Railway Eco Park) & is actually a pretty decent golf course that has its fair share of challenges. 8 of the holes are Par 3 holes that range from 64 to 191 yards in distance & the course has a single Par 4 that is a 313 yard design. Atleast 4 of the holes have blind tee shots as the green is obscured by trees or mounding making this a course where accurate shots of the tees are rewarded. The greens are surprisingly very good & the bunkering is still work in progress.
A compact clubhouse with basic F&B amenities is in place. The course is a good option for both beginners & the expert golfer to sharpen their short game. The greens are large, OB is in play on atleast 3 of the holes & one of the greens is shared across 2 holes. With the green fees at sub Rs 300, 500 INR & easy access this is a good course for a quick round of 9 holes. The driving range is floodlit allowing for night practice. Timings for the practice facility are from 0700 to 10 am & 1600 hrs to 1900 hrs typically in the Winter. In Summers the evening timing is from 1700 hrs to 2000 hrs.
